Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church Observed 175th Anniversary
Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church in Wadley, Georgia was constituted on August 7, 1835. The church remains in its original location. The first building was a log house, but a new meeting house was built in 1884. That building remains until this day. The church marked this 175th anniversary with special services the weekend of August 14 – 15, 2010. There was a dedication service for a new historical marker on Saturday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. Lunch was served for the congregation in the church annex following the service.
On Sunday, Aug. 15, the church had a special anniversary worship service at the 11 a.m. hour. Special features of the service will include the recognition of the heritage and legacy of the church through 175 years of worship and service. An old fashioned dinner was served following the morning service.
The church extended a special invitation to all of the former members, friends of the church, sister churches, ministers and the community to attend these services. We rejoiced together with our brothers and sisters in Christ at the goodness of the Lord to this church over these 175 years of its existence, we pray for God’s continued blessing and guidance as we seek to continue in His service.
