“My Faith Has Found a Resting Place” Hymnal 528

Scripture Reading Ephesians 2:4-7 and Titus 2:11-14; 3:5-7 (ESV) Joyce Lowman

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Scripture Reading Romans 3:21–26 (ESV) Dr. Hutz Hertzberg

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it – the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Pastor to People

This weekend, we pause to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country, men and woman who have served in our military and died in defense of our freedoms. We thank God for each one, and for the freedoms we enjoy in our country, including the freedom to worship God today.

Today, we look forward to hearing from Eric Naus, Pastor for University Students as he speaks to us from Romans 3:21-26 on the topic Angles on the Cross: A Demonstrated Justice.

Please keep Pastor Lutzer in prayer as he is currently away leading a tour of the Reformation sites. And please pray for us as a church that God will pour out His grace and glory upon us.

Gratefully His and yours,

Hutz Hertzberg

Executive Pastor
